How to Test Fish Fillets for Doneness

Overcooking dries out fish, so it’s important to know how to tell when fish is done. For fillets, check for doneness by inserting a fork at an angle into the thickest portion of the fish and gently parting the meat. When it is opaque and flakes into sections, it is cooked completely. A translucent appearance means it needs to cook a little longer.
