How to Proof Dough

The oven makes an ideal draft-free rising box. Try these two methods to proof yeast dough.

Cover the bowl of dough with a clean kitchen towel. Place the bowl on the top rack in a cold oven. Place a pan of steaming hot water underneath the bowl and close the oven door.

Turn your oven to its lowest heat setting for up to 50 seconds. Turn off the heat. Place the covered bowl of dough in the oven and close the door.
