Decorate with Pears
From lovely light green to beautiful blazing red, fresh pears are a natural element to incorporate in your fall decorating. Here are some easy ideas.
Fruit-filled vase. In a small, water-filled glass, arrange fresh flowers. Center the glass inside a large clear vase. Place small pears in the large vase to cover the glass.
Pear candle display. Cut a brown abaca mat to fit your table. (Ours measured 7 in. x 22 in.) Place the mat in the center of your table. Cut a wide ribbon 1-1/2 inches longer than the mat. Center the ribbon down the length of the mat; tuck ends under the mat.
Look for nine pears in assorted sizes. Cut the tops off of three pears (select ones that will stand upright). Use a melon baller to scoop out the inside, making an opening for a tea light candle in each; place the candle inside.
Arrange the pears, hydrangea blossoms, hypericum berries and eucalyptus on the abaca mat.
Pear place card. On coordinating card stock, cut out circles and leaf shapes. Write a name on each leaf. Rub the edges of the circles and leaves with brown chalk. Align the outer edges of each leaf and circle; punch a hole through both pieces. Thread brown cord through the hole and tie to the stem of a small pear. Set on a plate at each place setting.
