Coring Pears Like a Pro

To core a fresh pear, insert an apple corer into the bottom of the pear to within 1 in. of its top. Twist the corer to cut around the core, then slowly pull the corer out of the pear to remove the core. If you don't have an apple corer, use a sharp knife or vegetable peeler to cut the core from the bottom of the pear.

For fresh pear halves, a melon baller is the perfect tool for removing the core.
