The butt half of a ham is very meaty, but can sometimes be a challenge to care since part of the bone is buried within the meat. Here are some tips that will have yuo carving like a pro. 1. Position the ham with cut surface fat on the cutting board. Insert a bamboo skewer from top to bottom along the bone. Using the skewer as a guide, cut the largest side from the ham.
2. Cut the piece across the grain into slices.
3. Continue using the skewer as a guide to cut sections of ham from the bone, and cut each section into slices.
