Writing in Chocolate

Dress up a dessert plate with a seasonal sentiment handwritten on the rim of the serving platter. Melt about 2 tablespoons semisweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Transfer to a pastry bag fitted with a small round tip. Lightly touch the tip to the surface of the platter, squeezing the melted chocolate out as you write. Release pressure and gently touch the platter to stop. The chocolate writing can be done early in the day; set aside until chocolate becomes firm. Top with your choice of dessert and any additional garnishes just before serving.
