Homemade Garlic Bread

A half of a loaf of homemade garlic bread is usually enough for my family, leaving the rest of the French bread to get stale. To avoid this, I prepare several half-loaves of garlic bread at a time and freeze them. I slice two loaves of French bread lengthwise and then widthwise. Then I spread a mixture of garlic, butter and cheese on the cut sides and place the tops and bottoms together. I wrap these four small loaves individually in foil and plastic or place them in an airtight container. When I plan to serve garlic bread with dinner, I just pull one out to thaw and broil it at supper time. This prevents waste and saves time and trips to the store. —Shelli Deckard, Glendale, Arizona
