Fondant Tips

  • To prevent fondant from sticking to the rolling surface, sprinkle with confectioners’ sugar.

  • Fondant dries out quickly, so while working with it, always keep excess tightly wrapped in plastic wrap and stored in a resealable plastic bag.

  • To help make fondant adhere better to the cake, cover the cake with a thin coating of buttercream frosting before applying the fondant.

  • Use a pizza cutter to trim excess fondant from the bottom of the cake for a clean edge.

  • To store leftover fondant for future use, lightly coat the surface with shortening to prevent it form drying out. Wrap in plastic wrap and store in a resealable plastic bag.
