Typically, stewed tomatoes contain celery, onion, green pepper, sugar and salt. As a substitute for each 14-1/2-ounce can of stewed tomatoes, try adding 3 tablespoons finely chopped celery, 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion, 1 tablespoon finely chopped green pepper, 1/2 teaspoon sugar and 1/8 teaspoon salt to the same amount of home-canned tomatoes.
