Another Creative Idea From a Reader

Watermelon Truck

Watermelon Truck

My 4-year-old son was into trucks, so for his birthday I carved a watermelon into a plow truck to carry a load of fruit salad. Starting at one end of a whole watermelon not quite halfway down, cut melon lengthwise to a point just past half. Cut down from top so you can remove the top rear chunk to create the truck bed. Remove fruit from this chunk and cut plow from the rind. Hollow out the rest of the melon. Carve out a windshield and windows. Use toothpicks to attach plow, grape headlights and lemon-slice wheels.
