Ingredients

  • 3 pounds ground beef
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 2 cups water
  • 5 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Directions

  1. In a large cast-iron skillet or Dutch oven, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink, breaking it into crumbles; drain. Add water and seasonings. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, until the water is evaporated, about 15 minutes.
