Ingredients

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • BATTER:
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1-1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 cup raisins

Directions

  1. In a bowl, combine the first 5 ingredients until mixture resembles coarse crumbs; set aside.
  2. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Combine the dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Stir in raisins. Spread half of the batter into a greased 13x9-in. baking pan. Sprinkle with half of the crumb mixture. Carefully spread with remaining batter and sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture.
  4. Bake at 350° until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 35-40 minutes.
