Cornflakes take the place of traditional rice cereal in these sweet, no-bake Christmas wreath cookies. Dressed up with green food coloring and red candies, they’re a pretty addition to cookie platters and dessert buffets. —Taste of Home Test Kitchen

Ingredients

  • 20 large marshmallows
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Green food coloring
  • 3 cups cornflakes
  • Red M&M's minis (about 2 tablespoons)

Directions

  1. Place marshmallows and butter in a microwave-safe bowl; microwave, uncovered, on high until butter is melted and marshmallows are puffed, about 45 seconds. Tint with green food coloring. Stir in cornflakes.
  2. On a waxed paper-lined baking sheet, divide mixture into 8 portions. With buttered hands, working quickly, shape each portion into a 3-in. wreath. Decorate immediately with M&M's, pressing to adhere. Let stand until set.
Wreath Cookies Tips

What can you do if the cornflake mixture is too sticky?

Buttering your hands generously should do the trick, but you can also use cooking spray! Spray a thin layer on your hands prior to arranging the mixture into wreaths, applying more as needed. Even dampening your fingers in a small bowl of cold water helps to keep the "sticky" at bay.

What else can you use to decorate no-bake Christmas wreath cookies?

Instead of M&M's, you can always use red-hot candies for the "holly berries." Or, sprinkle on some red or white nonpareils or sprinkles. Twine some thin licorice twists, such as Red Vines, or thinly-cut strips of fruit leather inside and around the wreaths for a garland effect. How long will no-bake Christmas wreath cookies last?

If you've ever made crispy rice marshmallow treats, you know that short of them disappearing so quickly because they are so delicious, they can dry out quickly. These no-bake cornflake wreaths are very similar. Keep them at room temperature in a container with an airtight lid, where they should keep fresh for up to 3 days. But we guarantee these beauties will disappear before then! Here are some further Christmas cookie storage tips.
