White Chocolate Holiday Cookies

1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
6 squares (1 ounce each) white baking chocolate, coarsely chopped
1-1/2 cups chopped pecans

In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter, shortening and sugars until light and
fluffy. Beat in egg and extract. Combine the dry ingredients; gradually add to
creamed mixture. Stir in white chocolate and pecans. Drop by rounded
teaspoonfuls 2 in. apart onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 8-10
minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.

Yield: 10 dozen.
