Warm Spinach Dip Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 package (10 ounces) frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
  • 4 ounces fat-free cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded reduced-fat cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup reduced-fat sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 3/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Assorted fresh vegetables

Directions

  • In a large saucepan, combine the first eight ingredients. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 7-8 minutes or until cheese is melted, stirring occasionally. Serve warm with vegetables. Yield: 2 cups.

Nutritional Analysis: 1/4 cup (calculated without vegetables) equals 64 calories, 3 g fat (2 g saturated fat), 11 mg cholesterol, 259 mg sodium, 4 g carbohydrate, 1 g fiber, 6 g protein. Diabetic Exchanges: 1 vegetable, 1/2 lean meat, 1/2 fat.

This was a good hot dip. I baked it in the oven instead of on the stove.

PHE-NO-ME-NAL!!!!! First time making spinach dip and this recipe was OH so simple and it tasted GREAT!

I have had a similar dish to this, but I added 1 8oz. can of chopped water chestnuts-what a difference!
