This cereal sounded yummy, but it wasn't. After cooking over night, the mixture had stuck and burned on the bottom. Taste was just ok! I will return to my steel cut oats with walnuts and fresh fruit; or vanilla, cinnamon, and dried blueberries.

No 7-grain cereal here. Had a choice of 5-grain or 10-grain. After reading previous reviews, bought the 10-grain 'cause it was "ground".How do you store/reheat?? I don't want to cut back on the ingredients, but it's just me here.

I also substituted steel cut oats and it was delicious! Either way it is great. Put it in the crockpot with a liner before I went to bed - hot cereal waiting on a cold morning! It will be a winter staple around here!

I'm sorry but my family will not eat this. We do not do cereal for breakfast, as we are not a cereal family, and this recipe uses way too much cereal for us.

In Canada, the cereal is called "Red River" cereal. I've also made a similar recipe with Old Fashioned Oats in my rice cooker. One "cup" oats & one "cup" water + all the fruit.

The "cereal" is ground whole grains, i.e., wheat berries, barley, quinoa, flax, oats (or any other number of grains) that have been ground to about the same texture/consistency as ground coffee. Bob's Red Mill is one brand that has a 7 grain cereal. Again, you are looking for grains that have simply been ground, not made into any other type of flake, puff, or other boxed breakfast cereal.

melshy19 - 7 grain cereal is the actual grains. you can usually find it in the hot cereal or health food sections of the grocery store or at the health food store.

Okay I'm throughly confused on what constitutes "Cereal". I used 7 grain puffs from Kashi and it did not absorb the liquid and was runny....is the cereal flakes, oatmeal? I would love to make this but am stumped on what is the "cereal" here.Can someone shed some light for me?
