Lisa Campbell-Patterson of Des Moines, Iowa shares this chocolaty cookie that's cooked in a waffle iron. “I got this recipe in high school. It's always been a family favorite and it's also fun to share with others. They usually are surprised at how they are made,” she relates.

My batter didn't really turn out either. I would make them again because the kids really liked them, but for me, I thought they were not worth the clean-up of my waffle iron.

These cookies were very cool to make, with the waffle iron. They didn't really have a very strong chocolate flavor though. I made them for Christmas and brought them to school and they went over well. I sprinkled powdered sugar over them to make them look like snowflakes.

Add 2 tsp of batter per square. Close the lid. Bake for 1.5 min

This sounds really good and easy, but question, do you put the lid down as making the waffles? Or just cook open?

Do you close the waffle maker or leave it open when you bake these cookies??

Ok. What did I do wrong? The batter wasn't batter like. It was more like little clumps. These didn't turn out at all. Any ideas?
