Vanilla French Toast Recipe

Vanilla French Toast Recipe Vanilla French Toast Recipe photo by Taste of Home Rating 5

We discovered this recipe in Mexico. We couldn't figure out what made this French toast so delicious until we learned the secret was vanilla—one of Mexico's most popular flavorings. Since then, we've added a touch of vanilla to our waffle and pancake recipes. It makes them all very tasty. —Joe and Bobbi Schott, Castroville, Texas

Tried the recipe as is and it was okay. i have always used vanilla in my french toast (as my mom did) but don't really need the sugar & salt. Sometimes we change it up by using other flavorings (almond, lemon, orange, etc) Sure beats plain old french toast with mile & eggs! Orange is one of my favs as well as the vanilla!1 Try mexican vanilla as well!

First time adding vanilla and sugar to french toast for me. I'll definitely make this again but the recipe was misleading in that it says it makes six slices of toast. Unless the bread is postage-stamp size or the two eggs in question are ostrich eggs, I'll need to double everything again :) I got two slices of it. Only complaint but a very minor one.

I never put sugar in my mixture up until now, but I have used vanilla and cinnamon. Wow, this was great! I usually use Schmidts Honey White bread, I highly recommend because it's so soft and tasty!

I also have always added vanilla and cinnamon to my french toast, pancakes and waffles. Substituting vanilla coffee creamer for the milk also makes it SOOO good!!
