Turkey Biscuit Bake Recipe

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 3/4 cup butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • FILLING:
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups milk
  • 2 cups diced cooked turkey
  • 1 jar (6 ounces) sliced mushrooms, drained

Directions

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Combine the egg, butter, water and lemon juice; stir into dry ingredients until a soft dough forms. Spread half of the dough into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish.
  • In a large saucepan, melt butter. Stir in flour and salt until smooth; gradually add the milk. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 1-2 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown. Yield: 9 servings.

Lighter version: Makeover Turkey Biscuit Bake

Nutritional Analysis: 2/3 cup turkey mixture with 1 biscuit equals 642 calories, 40 g fat (25 g saturated fat), 163 mg cholesterol, 936 mg sodium, 49 g carbohydrate, 2 g fiber, 21 g protein.
