True Belgian Waffles Recipe

True Belgian Waffles Recipe True Belgian Waffles Recipe photo by Taste of Home Rating 5

It was on a visit to my husband's relatives in Belgium that I was given this recipe. Back in the U.S., I served the waffles to his Belgian-born grandmother. She said they tasted just like home. Our grandkids love these waffles with any kind of topping: blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, fried apples, powdered sugar or whipped topping. —Rose Delemeester, St. Charles, Michigan

I wanted to try this from scratch instead of the mix.... I added Cinnamon to the batter and added diced apples after you pour it into the batter..... and Heavenly to eat..

Delicious! These taste just like the Belgian waffles a friend would bring for us from Europe.

I have made these 3 times. The first time they came out perfect. I used margarine instead of real butter about 3/4c. The second time I used real butter and they didn't turn out to great. The third time I went back to margarine and used the correct amount and it was a little runny. So on my next batch I will go back to the 3/4 margarine. They were all delicious despite the difference. We made it Waffle Friday at our house all because of this yummy recipe.
