This is one of the first recipes I had my children prepare when they were learning to cook. My "little ones" are now grown (and have advanced to more difficult recipes!), but this continues to be a traditional standby in my home and theirs.

This has been a popular recipe with my growing up years and still is but my parents always called just an egg in the hole. lol. doesn't really matter the name still good and taste the same after all. :)

We call this Ceska Surprise - We butter the bread, use a shot glass to make the hole and cook the hole too. That is the first piece to dunk in the yolk.

I called this "Hole in the Head," don't know why. I am very bad and throw the cutout in the pan too...with a bit more butter or margarine. Yummy!

This is NOT traditional toad in the hole, which is a breakfast casserole with eggs, sausage, bread, maple syrup.
