I got this recipe from an aunt and made a couple of changes to suit our tastes. With ground beef and bacon mixed in, these satisfying beans are a big hit at backyard barbecues and church picnics. I'm always asked to bring my "special" beans. -Julie Currington, Gahanna, Ohio

These are delicious beans that my family begs for!! I do make 1 substitution though: I replaced the butter beans with black beans because I don't like butter beans and my family loves the black!! Besides that, I follow recipe and the result is great!!

Now family classic, they are known as the Beans of Destiny. We serve this at almost any informal group meal, any excuse we can make.

This is always a big hit at all our family gatherings. I double the recipe and put them in a crock pot for about 3-4 hrs on low. Delicious!
