This chocolaty delight was one of my favorites growing up. The cake is so moist and the icing so sweet that everyone who samples it wants a copy of the recipe. -Susan Ormond, Jamestown, North Carolina

Favorite Texas Sheet cake recipe... and I've tried quite a few! So moist!

This is a wonderful, fudgy cake. Pouring the icing on while the cake is still warm keeps the cake nice and moist. Please try this recipe! I think you'll love it!

This is a great recipe! Easy to make! I bake it for a few minutes less than what the recipe calls for, but that's just me!

Made 'Chocolate Buttermilk Squares' and this recipe on the same night to compare. 'CBSqr' turned out great but this recipe, which is made with the same method, was a complete failure. I lined both pans with foil bc I don't have pans with 1" sides and sprayed the bottoms. For this recipe, the cake batter crawled up the sides. Looked at 20 min and gave it 2 more min - the center of the cake had the appearance of boiling as it was moving up and down. In the end, this cake never rose in the middle and was gooey - not like texture in photo. All the frosting ran to the center. Flavor was poor as compared to other recipe. I know I added all ingredients incl. baking soda. A mystery.

This cake is so very delicious that all my friends rave about it. They'd never believe how easy it is to make. The frosting is especially yummy. I've made it at least a dozen times and am about to make it again for a party.

This is absolutely wonderful! I am not a huge fan of cake (just a vehicle for good frosting), but this cake is so moist and dense. And the icing is a wonderful compliment to the cake, melt-in-your-mouth sweet! This will definitely be added to my recipe file and made frequently for company and for church dinners.

This was sooooo good and soooo easy. I remember this from potlucks and church suppers and hadn't had it in years. I made it, with the assumption it was probably tastier in my memory than in reality... I was soooo wrong! Moist and rich, a small piece goes a long way. I will not only keep this and make it again, I think I may make it my go to recipe for work lunches and block parties! Thank you TOH.

My husband drools over this cake...I love that there are no eggs in it too. I told him that the spatula he was licking had about a thousand calories in it alone...he didn't care, he loved it! I made this once for the fire crew he was on and they all fought over it.

I'm 42 and was raised on this cake! So yummy! I'm with BJS Mom, regarding pecans. My mother always made the icing with the pecans mixed in it, though.
