Tastes Like Thanksgiving Casserole Recipe

Ingredients

6 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
1-1/4 cups chopped celery
3/4 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup butter, cubed
6 cups unseasoned stuffing cubes
1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
1/4 teaspoon rubbed sage
1 cup chicken broth
4 cups cubed cooked turkey
2 cans (10-3/4 ounces each) condensed cream of chicken soup, undiluted
1 teaspoon garlic powder
3/4 cup sour cream, divided
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
1-1/2 cups (6 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese

Directions

Place potatoes in a Dutch oven and cover with water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and cook for 10-15 minutes or until tender.
Meanwhile, in a large skillet, saute celery and onion in butter until tender. Remove from the heat.
In a large bowl, combine the stuffing cubes, poultry seasoning and sage. Stir in broth and celery mixture. Transfer to a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish.
In another large bowl, combine the turkey, soup, garlic powder and 1/4 cup sour cream; spoon over stuffing mixture. Drain potatoes; mash in a large bowl. Beat in the cream cheese, pepper, salt and remaining sour cream; spread over turkey mixture. Sprinkle with cheese.
Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 30-35 minutes or until heated through. Yield: 8 servings.

This is delicious! Here's a tip: we made this with ground turkey instead of left over Holiday turkey so can be made year-round and it's lower in calories.

I thought this was great. Used leftover stuffing, threw in some corn, made a few more mashed potatoes in addition to our leftovers. Used Healthy Request cream of chicken and low fat sour cream. I will make this every year with Thanksgiving leftovers. We are having leftovers of the leftovers tonight! Thanks for the recipe.

I have made this instead of mashed potatoes I tend to have leftover dressing, So that is what I used an my husband loved it

Excellent recipe. I've been making this for quite some time varying it up a bit depending on what I have on hand. And Robj, I always have leftover mashed potatoes because I make a lot. Also, as this recipe is designed to help use up leftovers in general, I think it's a heads up for anyone planning to use it, to make extra mashed potatoes to save a step.

Seriously? Who ever has leftover mashed potatoes on thanksgiving? Otherwise a stellar casserole recipe!

I used fat free cream cheese, fat free sour cream, and reduced fat cheddar cheese and cream of chicken soup to lighten up this recipe. Also left out the butter, microwaved the onion and celery, and used extra fat free chicken broth with the stuffing. It was great!!

It looks really good and I plan to make it but I agree with the previous review, where are the nutritional facts. I too follow the Weight Watchers plan and need the nutritional facts. Please put them back.

Loved this casserole. It does taste just like Thanksgiving! Used leftover dressing and instant mashed potatoes. Turned out great.

Will be making again next year.

Excellent recipe! I made this recipe even easier by using boxed stuffing and my left over mashed potatoes which didn't have the sour cream and cream cheese in them. It still turned out wonderful! I made this in a 8 x 8 baking dish because that is all I needed.

This is so delicious, hearty, and a wonderful way to clean out the fridge of Thanksgiving leftovers.

I made it with stuffing out of a box for convienence, and topped it with some leftover gravy.

My fiance` LOVED it which says a lot.

Favourite Turkey casserole ever, I cook a turkey, just for the leftovers to make this casserole! Have used this for Christmas potluck dinners, & just as a fave in my house!!!!

The most delicious casserole, and they are not kidding when they're saying "tastes like Thanksgiving"...It does. Used chicken when I didn't have turkey...tastes almost as good. great recipe. I tried to cut down to only one can of chicken soup...use both.
