Sweet Apple Crumble Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chopped peeled tart apples
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons water
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • TOPPING:
  • 3 tablespoons semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons old-fashioned oats
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Vanilla ice cream, optional

Directions

  • In a bowl, combine apples, water, lemon juice and cinnamon. Spoon into a 1-qt. baking dish coated with cooking spray. Dot with butter.
  • For topping, combine the chocolate chips, brown sugar, oats, peanut butter, flour and cinnamon; crumble over apple mixture. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 25-30 minutes or until apples are tender. Serve warm with ice cream if desired. Yield: 2 servings.

Nutritional Analysis: 1 serving equals 304 calories, 15 g fat (6 g saturated fat), 5 mg cholesterol, 101 mg sodium, 41 g carbohydrate, 4 g fiber, 6 g protein.

This is my second time making this recipe, a favorite in our home. I increase the amount of cinnamon and eliminate the choc. chips.

I did not add the chocolate or peanut butter, but put a little sugar w/ the apples. My husband loves apple pie, which I don't make so this is a great substitute that he really liked.
