We made these for a family gathering. The people who liked hot things thought they were mellow but those of us who are pepper wimps thought they were really good. The flavors go together well.

My husband loved these. However, the statement that "even the hot pepper intolerant love them" is not true. I took one bite and that was enough, I'm a hot pepper wimp. My husband was happy enough to eat my share!

mas, I used Penzey's chili powder for the "chili seasoning" in the recipe.

Reviewed on Jan. 24, 2013 by mas4144

I have not tried this recipe yet because I am not sure what "chili seasoning" is. Is it chili powder? Can somebody please help me. Also something I found when making jalapeno poppers, after removing the seeds and membranes put the peppers in boiling water and blanch them for a few minutes and drain them and then stuff them.

Best peppers ever made! Stop looking for another recipe-- this is the one. Everyone loves. Also great- make ahead in morning then when people arrive put in oven. Makes house smell good too. Plus, everyone very impressed.

These are great, I usually don't go for spicy but my husband make them and I had to try it, I love them. I wanted him to make more. They are so tasty. Our friends loved them also.

These were great! The combination of sweet and spicy was perfect! I strongly recommend wearing gloves when making these though-I did not follow this advice, and my hands burned for the rest of the day.

Everyone loved them, even those people who stay away from "hot" foods. I made sure that I removed all of the seeds and membranes. I pre-cooked the bacon a little too.

Love, love, love this recipe and so does my family!

I have made these numerous times at my house and also to take to parties. My only issue is keeping them hot when I take them places. I like them best right out of the oven, and don't want to ruin them by putting them in a crock pot to transport them. Does anyone have any transport ideas for me so I can take them places and kept them warm? We also like them with some heat so I always leave seeds from about 3 (doubled recipe) of the jalapenos for a little bit of a kick, but not too hot!

Fantastic and so flavorful. We added some seasonings (chili powder, garlic powder, cumin, brown sugar, Tabasco, and lime juice) to the cheese mixture. Also, we added chili powder to the brown sugar mixture. And broiled them for a couple minutes after the cooking time for added crisp to the bacon. Phenomenal!

These were a huge hit at a party I hosted a couple of weeks ago. I had taken them out of the oven and gone downstairs to grab something, coming back up to find half of them already eaten! I even doubled the recipe! I already have plans to make them for a superbowl party! They are sweet and spicey, and easy to make! Love them!

Excellent recipe! Rave reviews & recipe requests @ a recent get-together. Easy - I cooked the bacon & added it to the cream cheese mixture, dipped it face side-down into brown sugar / chili powder. Baked it in advance, then warmed up for 10 minutes. Will be making again :0.

Made this for New YEar's Eve. I used precooked bacon so I didn't have to worry about whether or not it was done and cooked them on the grill. They were great and the bacon was nice and crispy.

I used parchment and racks in my baking sheet plus I added about 15-20 minutes cooking time to make sure the bacon (mine was fairly thick) was cooked well. I love them!

Reviewed on Jan. 07, 2011 by nancye49

Will make many more times. Next time I will double. And I uesed a rack inside the pan to make sure the bacon cooked all around. My oldest grandson did not like the sugar/chili topping so next time won't put any on his poppers. Served with tortilla soup. Wonderful. Nancy

I really changed this recipe by eliminating the bacon altogether, as we are trying to limit our intake of processed meats. I simply filled the peppers with the cream cheese/cheddar mixture, and sprinkled the sugar/seasoning mixture on top. They were excellent! Wish I had made more- a group of college boys finished these off in no time flat.

WOW- unbelievably good! Next time I make these I will use a rack inside the pan to cook these on. I also cooked them 10-15 minutes longer than the time shown in recipe- I like the bacon a bit crispy. So good- I am sure to make these when I need a delicious appetizer.

WOW. . .These were great and so tasty. The wire rack was a good tip (makes the poppers cook evenly). I also pre-cooked the bacon a bit. Wonderful and a real crowd pleaser. Thanks for recipe as everyone loves them!

I love poppers!!! this recipes sounds wonderful. though i have not tried it yet and i will. baking them on a wire rack over the pan (as a reviewer commented) and using thinner bacon will actually do the job of creating a crispy bacon without the cheese oozing out.

Reviewed on Dec. 28, 2010 by kewestby

Cook the bacon till crisp, cool, then crumble. Add to cheese mixture. Fill peppers with mixture and dip the tops in sugar/seasoning mixture. Continue as stated. No burnt bacon. Yum!

Reviewed on Dec. 28, 2010 by sboik

I use the pre-cooked bacon strips and it turns out perfect every time. No burning. No oozing cheeses.

Reviewed on Dec. 28, 2010 by TiramisuQueen

This is good but what I do is substitute procutto instead of the bacon and you never have undercooked bacon or definitely pre cook bacon.....

Reviewed on Dec. 28, 2010 by tagmrg

I have found that using the very thin sliced bacon and baking these on a wire rack set on a cookie sheet will cook the bacon thoroughly. These are delicious.

Reviewed on Oct. 07, 2010 by beltza

By the time the bacon was done on top, the bottoms were burnt. The cheese was oozing out so I didn't want to turn them over for fear the rest would ooz out. After cutting off the burnt part, the poppers were tasty so I think I might try them again but will at least partially cook the bacon first. I think I'll put on foil too because it was a mess to clean.
