Super Brownies Recipe

Super Brownies Recipe Super Brownies Recipe photo by Taste of Home Rating 4

Even though he's not a chocolate fan, my husband likes these brownies. I fix them for family, company and potlucks. Loaded with macadamia nuts, these chunky, bite-size treats never fail to catch attention on a buffet table. If you prefer, replace the macadamia nuts with pecans. —Bernice Muilenburg, Molalla, Oregon

Tip

Substitute for Nuts

If your family loves the crunch of nuts in brownies and chocolate chip cookies, but someone is allergic to them, add granola or crisp rice cereal in the same amounts as the nuts called for in your recipes. But, always check the granola or cereal packages for nut allergy alerts to be certain.

To some of the comments saying the ingredients are to expensive to make these::: I would rather spend a "few" extra dollars to make a recipe that people just LOVE! This is what cooking is all about, making a quality brownie that EVERYONE wants the recipe!!! You get what you pay for and CHEAP is not what cooking is about

This is a yummy recipe. By using great chocolate and other ingredients...the best one can afford, the flavor is fabulous. This recipe is easy, fills the house with a great aroma while baking, and disappeared within minutes. Good desserts and treats can be expensive, however, with many recipes to choose from, one can find a baking project to match one's budget. And, I would not leave out ingredients when looking for great flavor or results...such as cutting down on the vanilla, etc unless that change is intentional and for a different desired result. I appreciate special recipes and some that are pricy might not get baked often, but when a special dessert is desired, such as for company, I appreciate extraordinary recipes that have ingredients such as macadamia nuts, etc. One can find an ordinary brownie recipe easily, I seek out these kinds of special recipes as I don't want to be an ordinary baker.

These brownies are terrible. If it wasn't for the fact that I substituted almond extract for the vanilla, there would have been no good flavor. All I can taste is sweetened flour and water. I was impressed at first at the amount of rise this had while baking, but as it cooled and I cut into it, I found the nearly 2" height was mostly an air bubble under the crust! Definitely WON'T be making these again. Yuck!

I haven't made these YET but I'm going to. The ingredients are similar to what I put in my White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies. This has to be good. And I agree, if someone hasn't made it then they shouldn't post a review. If you have questions regarding a recipe, ask don't rate the recipe.

Made these for an Hawaiian themed party - delicious! Was asked for the recipe by many! To marian08 - why comment if you are have not tried the recipe? Don't understand folks like you who feel that they need to add their 2 cents' worth without even trying the recipe - it's not like you would be making these everyday so every once in a while, splurge! Geez......

This is also a lot of chocolate chips. This would turn out to be a very expensive brownie recipe. Think I'll pass on this one. It may be delicious but there are a lot of other delicious brownie recipes that don't use 5 t. of vanilla, 2 cups of nuts and 4 2/3 cups of choc. chips. with the price of food this one is just too expensive to make.

I haven't made this yet however one thing in the recipe is troubling me. 5 teaspoons of vanilla??? Is that correct. With the price of vanilla I don't think I would use 5 t. There must be a better way. Maybe 2 teaspoons and 1/2 to 1 t. almond extract. Has anyone tried it differently? I too would use walnuts as macadamias are quite expensive. thanks

I used walnuts since I was too lazy to look for macadamia nuts, and it they were really good!

The recipe looked wonderful. The batter tasted wonderful, but the brownies tasted and looked just like a boxed mix. I was very disappointed--especially for the fortune I spent on macadamia nuts and all the chocolate chips.

Just wondering...........is 5 teaspoons vanilla correct?

I love this brownie recipe. I have been making these since I received a free issue of Country Woman many years ago. I usually bake mine 45 min..

These are very rich and chocolatey. Macadamias are a nice addition. I baked mine for 50 minutes and that was plenty of time.
