Sour cream and cream cheese add delicious dairy flavors to these potatoes. They're special enough to serve guests and can be prepared in advance. Since I'm a busy mother, that's a convenience I appreciate.—Melody Mellinger, Myerstown, Pennsylvania

Yuuuum! These were awesome.

I've been using this recipe for quite a few years whenever I'm having guests because I hate making mashed potatoes at the last minute when you're also making the gravy, etc. Another plus is that these potatoes keep their smooth consistency when reheating.

Definately my favorite mashed potato recipe...perfect even without baking them.

We always make these mashed potatoes. We don't use a dutch oven and they still turn out just fine. I've even not baked them in the oven and they still turn out great.

Best mashed potatoes ever! Not low-calorie, but delicious. :)

Wow, these are delicious! If you're going to go through the trouble of making real mashed potatoes (as opposed to instant), then use this recipe! It's so creamy, and not too salty. I used reduced-fat sour cream and reduced-fat cream cheese, and these turned out perfect.

My family loves these! II do not mash them first, just beat them and I add some garlic powder and seasoned salt to taste. They are GREAT!!

I have been making these for years, especially for Thanks giving, Christmas, and Easter. You can make them the day a head and do not have the mess to clean up. I use an electric steamer to cook the potatoes; it works great.

I use low fat cream cheese and fat free sour cream. Sometimes I add green onions or chives.

Have made these often over the years. Great for pot luck dinners.
