Sugarless Applesauce Recipe
  • Prep: 10 min. Cook: 45 min.
  • Yield: 8 Servings

Ingredients

  • 8 cups sliced peeled tart apples
  • 1/2 to 1 can (12 ounces) diet white soda
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, cook apples, soda and cinnamon until apples are tender, about 45 minutes. Serve warm or cold. Yield: 4 cups.

Diabetic Exchanges: One serving equals 1 fruit; also 74 calories, 1 mg sodium, 0 cholesterol, 19 gm carbohydrate, trace protein, trace fat.

I had lite ginger ale so I used that. I don't like cinnamon applesauce and left it out. I don't see a lot of difference between using soda and using the same amount of water with a little lemon instead. Seems to come out the same.

I made the applesauce with club soda that needed to be used up.
