  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • FROSTING:
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3-3/4 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk

  • 4-1/2 cups sliced almonds

I have made these for 10 years and are always included in my Christmas cookie selection. Always include a note with the cookies: Jesus is symbolized in the bible by the dove. May your Christmas be filled with peace, joy and a whole lot of DOVE!

I can't wait to make these adorable cookies.

Does anyone know where I can find that particular cookie cutter online? I've found other dove shapes, but I love THIS one.

Thanks for the great recipe!

I used my favorite sugar recipe (because I already had some made) and took this idea to decorate them. Very elegant!

This is also my favorite plain sugar cookie recipe. They taste better than any other I've tried.
