“I changed up my mom’s recipe a bit to make it my own. Add a side of mashed potatoes and pour the sauce over both the potatoes and the bundles. This is real comfort food!” —Debbie Carter, Kingsburg, California

Debbie ~ This sounds and looks wonderful! I am however, wondering why Taste of Home did NOT add some color to the plate before they took the photo!! Green beans, broccoli or carrots would have accented the burger and potatoes very nicely!

lvizy Sounds yummy, but we don't eat mushrooms, do you have any substitution suggestions?

You could saute onions in place of the mushrooms and use cream of celery or cream of onion soup instead.

Really yummy! I added a beef boulion cube to the gravy. Adding a bit of milk made my gravy too soupy. I didn't have any thyme either so I substituted basil and garlic. We really enjoyed this meal.

Haven't tried this recipe yet but, from one Kingsburg Debbie to another Kingsburg Debbie (in SF...ugggg!!) this looks like a great "comfort food" recipe and just what we need tonight. Thanks

Good comfort food on a rainy cold night. I used venison burger and my homemade condensed cream of mushroom and served w/ cottage mashed potatoes.

My family liked this. I reduced the thyme by half and thinned the sauce with milk. Could not stretch the meat to pinch together so I just topped the stuffing with the other patty.

This was pretty good. I added a little skim milk to the sauce to thin it out a little bit; other than that I followed the recipe. I'm surprised to see the comment about it being dry as ours was very moist.

We did't care for this at all. It was very dry even with the gravy.

Not a huge fan of thyme so I used garlic powder instead. My husband said its a keeper! Went so fast, next time I'll double the recipe.
