Streusel Apples Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 4-1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 5 cups sliced peeled tart apples
  • 1/2 cup golden raisins
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • TOPPING:
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons cold butter

Directions

  • In a large bowl, combine egg and lemon juice. Add the apples, raisins and walnuts; toss to coat. Combine the sugar, flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt; sprinkle over apple mixture and toss to coat. Spoon into an 8-in. square baking dish coated with cooking spray.
  • For topping, combine the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon peel and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over apple mixture. Bake at 375° for 30-35 minutes or until filling is bubbly and top is golden brown. Serve warm. Yield: 9 servings.
