This fresh-tasting cake with its pretty pink tint took center stage at the reception for my farmer cousin, Scott Kittelmann, and his wife, Kathy. To hint at the flavor before cutting, garnish the top of the cake with whole strawberries. —Pam Anderson, Billings, Montana

This sounds exactly like a cake that I used to enjoy more than 30 years ago when my childhood neighbor (and good family friend) would make it. She made it in a 9x13 pan and topped it with powdered sugar as a previous reviewer mentioned. It is delicious! I am very happy to have come across this recipe as my neighbor is no longer with us and I thought the recipe would be forever gone as well. I think I will make this the next time my oldest daughter is home from school and give my children a little taste of my childhood :)

I've been making this recipe for strawberry cake for over 20 years and it's ALWAYS a hit! I, however, use more strawberries with powdered sugar, etc for the icing to make it a complete strawberry experience & refrigerate..it's so much better COLD! YUM...A REAL FAVORITE OF MY FAMILY'S!

It really annoys me when people write in without having made the recipe, but here I am doing. I'm always looking for ways to make cake mixes extra special. This sounds yummy with all that fruit. Someone mentioned jelly roll pans and I thought how elegant to just make this into a jelly roll cake as well. Either way, I'm making it! Maybe today!

This cake was delicious! Not to mention inexpensive and very easy to make. In between the layers I put whipped cream and cut strawberries for an extra boost and it was fantastic! I also used whipped cream to ice which left everyone that tried it wanting more!

Very yummy with lots of fresh strawberry flavor! I liked it best baked in 2 lined jelly roll pans. Frost the one cake, then flip the 2nd one on top, so the frosting is in the middle.
