This creamy soup brings my family to the table in a hurry. I love the warming zip of cayenne, but it also tastes terrific without it if you like milder flavor. With a few simple side dishes, this soup is a full meal.

I love this stuff. Sometimes, I omit the cayenne (for the kids), but I make sure to put extra in my husband and I's soup. YUM

Yum, yum, yum! I think my hubby fell in love with me all over again after making this hearty soup. I used ground turkey and turkey bacon. I forgot to add the beef bouillon granules. I didn't have grease from the bacon to add since it was turkey. I used two cans of rotel tomatoes also. I can hardly imagine what the recipe would taste like with hamburger and real bacon. Note: adding 1.5 cups of water in the first step isn't enough. I simply added enough water to boil. Once boiled I drained then added the 1.5 cup of water.

This has become one of my most favorite soup recipes. Living in the southwest, my family loves spicy foods - & this one fits our tastes perfectly! Lots & lots of flavor! One of those rare recipes that I follow exactly without any substitutions. I've found that 1/2 teaspoon of the cayenne pepper is just right for our tastes. Start with a small amount as you can always add more if needed.

I have made this before when I first got the book that it came in. I had since lost the book and my son has been asking. I was so happy that I found it here. It is so good and inexpensive to make.

Loved the soup. I didn't have a jalapeno pepper or caynene pepper so I added a can of RoiTel and it was perfect!

This is one recipe that I have made that everyone who tries it simply raves about. Our family always requests that I make a double batch so everyone can have a large helping. We recently had a family reunion and had a book to write comments about the reunion and about two thirds of the people wrote how good the soup was. The cayenne pepper really makes the soup pop.

I made this soup again tonight. We all love it. I have been making it for about 10 years. But I got a huge shock when I finally looked at the nutritional information. In one cup of soup, could there possible be 74 grams of fat? Is it possible?

This is the best recipe, however,I eliminated the jalepeno peppers. You won't regret making this recipe.

I make this recipe for for our restaurant and always get lots of compliments. However, I take out all the spicy ingredients. I like it spicy but not everyone does, so I just left them out. I will be writing this one down to keep for my grandchildren.

I got this from a Taste of Home magazine years ago and it always gets wonderful reviews with many people asking for the recipe. Made it for our church bazaar several years in a row. Is always a hit. Husband says it's "good enough to serve in a restaurant."

This a great soup just as it is, but we even swapped out the regular potatoes for sweet potatoes and liked it even better!

Easy to adjust level of spiciness. Used 4oz can of diced jalapeno pepper to make it very spicy!!!

Drain. Add potatoes, onion and tomato sauce. Stir in water, salt, pepper and hot pepper sauce; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour or until the potatoes are tender and the soup has thickened. Yield: 2 quarts.

This sounds like it would be great with a homemade soda cracker. If anyone has a recipe for these I am looking for one for my mom, who is 86 years old and has been looking for a recipe for a homemade soda cracker for years. Please can someone help me find this for her??? Thank-you in advance.

This is my favorite Taste of Home recipe. It is so addictive.I add extra jalapenoes with seeds, to add more spice. I usually eat this with doritoes.
