Spiced Roast Goose

Ingredients
- 4 cups water, divided
- 2/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon soy sauce, divided
- 1/4 cup chopped celery
- 1/4 cup dried minced onion
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 domestic goose (10 to 12 pounds)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon aniseed
- 1/4 cup cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons cold water
Directions
- In a large saucepan, combine 2 cups water, 2/3 cup soy sauce, celery,
- onion and sugar. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently until
- vegetables are tender. Remove from the heat; allow to cool.
- Pour marinade into a large resealable plastic bag. Add goose; seal
- bag and turn to coat. Refrigerate for 3-4 hours, turning several
- times.
