This recipe got a big NO from my family. The butter ran off during the cooking time, taking most of the spices with it. It must have been a HUGE pear to get enough slices to resemble the picture. I am rating it poor because the directions are incorrect and the resulting dish was a big disappointment.

Adding a sprinkle of cloves to the pears works magic, just like adding cinnamon to apples or garlic to mushrooms.

I dressed mine up a bit by adding a dollop of Cool Whip and a few blackberries with each serving.

I loved it.  I was surprised how easy it was to cut a pear into 18 slices and have made it more than once.  Ready to test it on an apple.

Correction to my comment...1 serving of 1/2 pear should be 9 slices, thin of course.

Looking at this recipe, i would have thought that since the recipe states that it is for 2 servings and the picture shows approx. 18 pieces of pear, then 1 serving from 1 pear should be approx. 9 slices.

I'm not sure where anyone gets the idea there should be 30 pcs. I pear would not cut into 30 pcs unless they were paper thin. One serving would be half a pear.

Perhaps the picture is of only ONE serving..the recipe says it makes 2 servings...so if u see 18 on one plate, the remaining 12 must be on the other plate!?

Anita: I have looked at the photo of this dish, and I can not see 30 slices of pear on the plate. I did count 18. I have not tried this dish, but I'm looking forward to it.

Agree with Anita......has to be more than ONE pear!!!
