Since you "dump" all the ingredients together for these brownies, they take very little time to prepare. There's no mistaking the homemade goodness of a freshly baked batch—they are rich and fudgy! —Diane Heier, Harwood, North Dakota

I substituted 1 cup of apple sauce for the 1 cup of oil and the brownies came out perfect. I used a smaller pan (Perfect Brownie pan) and the chocolate chips sunk to the bottom and made a yummy gooey mess. I just flipped the brownies over and smoothed out the top and it made almost like a frosting. :o) I will use the 13x9 pan next time and see if the chips sink to the bottom. I think there were just too many chips for the size pan that I used. But to those looking for a way to reduce the fat in this recipe, the applesauce worked great. I gave the recipe 4 stars only because it has too much fat for me and one can use applesauce and they taste great.

Has anyone made these with apple sauce instead of canola oil? They sound good.
