Hardly fair to give this a 3 star rating because you chose to mess it up. In baking sugar is considered a liquid...because it acts as one. You removed a 1/2 cup of liquid then complain that it was too dense! If you choose to eliminate sugar from your diet, i think that's admirable. However, do your research prior to removing it from recipes dependent on it. If you are desiring some sort of sweetness (which why else make a type of donut) I suggest using whey-low or agave. Both are 100% natural (not toxic substitutes) and both are extremely low on the glycemic index. Whey-low would use the same amount as sugar, agave, I'm not certain of the conversion. If you still find it too sweet, use less whey-low. Perhaps you can use unsweeted apple juice in place of the sugar.
