Whether you're in the stadium parking lot or on your patio, these southwestern-style burgers from Robert Hodges of San Diego, California are great on the grill. "Sometimes I make six patties rather than eight out of the ingredients because I like my burgers bigger and better!" he notes.

Tip

Quick Homemade Croutons

I hate to waste the heel from a loaf of bread or a few leftover hot dog or hamburger buns. So I cube them into a bowl, spray them with nonstick cooking spray and season with garlic powder, parsley and basil or oregano. Then I bake them on a cookie sheet at 250° until they’re crisp and brown. My family loves the quick homemade croutons. —Nancy C., Windermere, Florida

I have made this recipe again and again since 2010! This is one that keeps me from buying deli burgers in the store. Easy to make, great taste and just the right touch of heat, not too much or my wife would not eat them.

Excellent burgers, one of two burger recipes I keep going back to.

We made this the night before the game. we made them "slider size". Put them in a tupperware container and grilled the next day before game. They were a huge hit.

I made these for a tailgate. Brought the meat and had someone cook them there. Everyone claimed these were the best burgers they've had in their life! I'm making again for another event this week! :)
