Slow Cooker Pork Chops Recipe

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic pepper blend
  • 1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 4 boneless pork loin chops (4 ounces each)
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 can (14-1/2 ounces) chicken broth

Directions

  • In a large resealable plastic bag, combine 1/2 cup flour, mustard, garlic pepper and seasoned salt. Add pork chops, one at a time, and shake to coat. In a large skillet, brown chops in oil on both sides.
  • Transfer to a 5-qt. slow cooker. Place remaining flour in a small bowl; whisk in broth until smooth. Pour over chops. Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours or until meat is tender.
  • Remove pork to a serving plate and keep warm. Whisk cooking liquid until smooth; serve with pork. Yield: 4 servings.

This smelled so good while it was cooking in the slow cooker. My husband loves pork chops so he was really looking forward to it. We were both sorely disappointed. This turned out so bland, it was awful. The gravy was terrible and it ruined everything. It felt like I was eating "flour" stew. The pork chops were bland and tasteless. I've got to say, this is one of the worst meals I've ever made, other than the fish I cooked back in 1976 that my daughter still rants about to this day.

My husband forced himself to eat his portion, I couldn't take more than a few bites, then I gave it to the dogs. Even they wouldn't eat it.

I coated the pork chops with 1 teaspoon brown spicy mustard blended into 3 tablespoons of heavy cream, then put them into the flour mixture. I modified the flour mixture by eliminating the ground mustard, garlic pepper and seasoned salt and adding in 1 tablespoon minced fresh garlic, 1/4 teaspoon cracked black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon regular salt, 1/2 teaspoon of dried basil. Make sure your skillet and oil are hot when you put the chops in or your coating will stick to the pan instead of your chops. I used Minor's Chicken Base to make the broth because the flavor is the best there is. I found the sauce the chops cooked in to be somewhat lumpy and had to use a mixer to smooth out the sauce again. But the pork chops were fork-tender and delicious. I pealed and halved naval oranges and fried them in honey butter very lightly and served them with whole new potatoes and grilled asparagus. Huge hit with the family, especially the grannies!

The only thing I changed was to add a package of pork gravy mix to the flour.

The chops were fork tender and the gravy was delicious.

I loved the original recipe! The second time I made it I used beef broth instead of chicken and added some beef flavor boost for a richer gravy. Both times were excellent!

Good base recipe. I used seasoned pepper, kosher salt, then added a couple cloves of fresh garlic to boost flavor. I also added a pinch of chicken bouillon!

We love this recipe. I add more of the seasonings than what it calls for & I also use the Watkins brand Chicken Broth which adds to the great flavor.

I am in total agreement with summer888. I will increase the seasonings next time. I did not have the ground mustard to add, so I put in some thyme instead. We also had it over some penne pasta which was a nice combination.
