Slow-Cooked Stroganoff Recipe

Rating 5

"I've been preparing Stroganoff in the slow cooker for more than 20 years," relates Karen Herbert of Placerville, California. "Once you've done it this way, you'll never cook it on the stovetop again. It's great for family or company."

Family loved it but to make it a bit lighter, we cut the sour cream down to 1 cup and substitute half the beef with a can of drained garabanzo beans. We flour the beans same as the meat and it's GREAT.

Wonderful Stroganoff, very tender and delicious. I would say it is only enough for 4 people as it is so good and will need seconds! Definitely a keeper!

Although it was good, I felt that the flavor was too mild. It needs something. The meat was very tender. I will make it again but will experiment a little next time.

This is the best stroganoff recipe for the slow cooker hands down.

Family asked for a little less sour cream. I used half the meat and substituted a can if great northern beans, drained and rinsed. All yummy!

I used chuck roast, sliced and fat removed -cooked it 8 hours. It was delicious even with lite sour cream and served over rice or noodles.

Beef stroganoff is my favorite comfort food dinner. This is the only stroganoff recipe I use since trying it from a Taste of Home slow cooker magazine several years ago. The recipe is simple and makes the best stroganoff. I prepare the ingredients in my slow-cooker the evening before and store in the refrigerator overnight. I pop the the crock in the slow-cooker in the morning. My husband boils the noodles when he gets home and dinner is done when I walk in the door.

This sounds like the 'real thing'!! After the failed "Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff" recipe from Taste of Home Aug-Sept 2010, this has to be a winner!! It looks similar to the recipe for the stove-top version, minus the soup!!

Hurrah!!!

Fantastic flavor and quick to whip together. This recipe is a definite hit with my husband and two kids.
