This sensational dish is so wonderful to come home to, especially on a cool fall or winter day. It's a delicious way to use up leftover holiday ham, too.Jill Pennington, Jacksonville, Florida

Too smelly and too much broccoli. No one liked much.

This recipe was really good. I didn't have any ham, so I used fajita chicken and a jar of Tostitos smooth and flavored dip.

I love this recipe. I omit Ham, Water Chestnuts, Celery, Pepper and Paprika. I also put in 4 cups of broccoli florets. I can't find any other "jar" of cheese sauce other then Ragu double cheddar, so I use 1 cup of that.

This is a great recipe that my family enjoys! If you worried about Sodium....use ingredients that you can substitute! Been making this for awhile and it's good comfort food!
This is a recipe my entire family enjoys...if you are worried about the sodium...then there are ways to reduce that! Practically you can substitute the ingredients with others......taste good and it's a comfort food!

My family loved this recipe. I used Velveeta instead of the stuff in a jar, and eliminated the water chestnuts. I also cooked it on low for one hour while the broccoli thawed, then added the broccoli, cooked it on high for an hour and a half, then low for another hour. It turned out perfect with the veggies crisp and the rice tender.

Well, I for one thought it was delicious! Food is supposed to be FUN! If you don't like all the sodium then use lower sodium ingredients. Almost everyone makes low-sodium versions of "staples" like cream of mushroom soup, etc. And cut the salt you use for the rest of the day. Maybe have fruit for breakfast or something. Because stressing out over a little Cheez Whiz has to be worse for you than the Cheez itself!

This recipe is so overloaded with sodium! You have ham, condensed cream of mushroom, processed cheese, and the sodium in the water chesnuts liquid. I don't know how Taste of Home let such an unhealthy mix of ingredients like these be called a recipe. I gave it 1 star because it was equivilant to a 'poor' rating.

UGH! Processed cheese should be banned. Cream of mushroom soup has toooooo much sodium. Make your own and use fresh mushrooms. Water chestnuts do not belong in this recipe. Really, Taste of home you missed the mark this time. I only gave it one star because I was required to.

One serving of this recipe is more than half the daily recommended allowance of sodium. Using low sodium soup and low sodium cheese rather than the jarred would help cut down on the sodium. Rinsing the water chestnuts would also help.LAG

Tasted good, but I think the broccoli should be added toward the end, mine was too mushy.

This is a great recipe and I will be making this one again. I did not cook it in my slow cooker. I just cooked it on the stove top! It was cooked in no time at all. Next time I am going to add some grilled chicken instead of ham..to change it up a little :)
