Sloppy Joes Sandwiches Recipe

This is one of those recipes that cooks love because it's quick, easy and inexpensive. Brown sugar adds a touch of sweetness. In addition to rolls, the beef mixture is tasty over rice, biscuits or baked potatoes.

Tip

Quick Homemade Croutons

I hate to waste the heel from a loaf of bread or a few leftover hot dog or hamburger buns. So I cube them into a bowl, spray them with nonstick cooking spray and season with garlic powder, parsley and basil or oregano. Then I bake them on a cookie sheet at 250° until they’re crisp and brown. My family loves the quick homemade croutons. —Nancy C., Windermere, Florida

This recipe was pretty good so much better than in a can. i couldnt believe how easy the ingredients were I had everything on hand! but next time I think I'll add 1 tblsp. Less of brown sugar & add some diced onions and green peppers.

Fantastic! First I browned some chopped onions in a pan. I added ground turkey and also browned. I added the garlic powder, salt, pepper, paprika and onion powder to the ground turkey (not in the sauce mixture). In a small bowl I mixed one cup of pasta sauce (not ketchup), water, mustard, minced garlic, and honey to taste. I added the sauce mixture to the ground turkey and simmered. Delicious!

This is the best sloppy joe recipe I have found. I used ground turkey and chopped a fresh onion to cook with the meat. I let the sloppy joe mixture sit in the refrigerator overnight to let the flavors blend. I took some to work on a baked potato with melted cheese and several of my co-workers wanted the recipe. This is much better than any canned sauce or mix.

These were really easy and tasty. I needed a bit more spice, so I added some chili powder and paprika.

Made this last night for supper. Fast and easy. I used fresh tomatoes, peppers and onions from the garden. And added just a dash of Texas Pete. Let it simmer as recommended.. and WOW.. it was great! This is a "Do Again" recipe.
