Shredded Beef au Jus Recipe

Shredded Beef au Jus Recipe Shredded Beef au Jus Recipe photo by Taste of Home Rating 4

My mom found this recipe in a farm journal soon after she and my dad got married. The tender beef has been a family favorite for years, and my dad often requests it. —Danielle Brandt, Ruthton, Minnesota

I came across this recipe out of a need to not have to buy a packet of seasoning knowing it must not be to complicated to make my own "french dip" sandwiches. I am pleased with the flavor of this and will definately call it my new standard. I also added sliced onions and used garlic powder and a little salt since i was out of garlic salt. Thanks for publishing this one!!

i liked the flavoring in this dish, plus the ease of making. used sandwich rolls instead to make nice french dips.

It wasn't good or bad. I have better recipes for similar dish.

Just need to cook long enough to shred. Very good flavor.

Maybe I should go "punch" the butcher . . . .I followed the directions, cooked it in the slow cooker but no way could I shred it with two forks. Flavor is good, I sliced it so not a total loss, just a disappointment in not having it shredded.

Would cut the salt mostly and then add some beef broth instead of water, it is delish!!!! Jan

Not one of the better slow cooker recipes I've tried. After reading the reviews, I deleted the salts altogether, and used a whole clove of garlic. I also replaced the water and beef bouillon granules with beef broth. Maybe that's what I did wrong -- the dish was very bland. Both DH and I were disappointed.

This was a great easy recipe that my family loved, especially the au Jus! I will definitely make again and again.

My picky 4 year old ate a whole sandwich. I cut into slices instead of shredding. I too went easy on the salts.

Suggestion for those of you that said it is too salty; use garlic power instead of garlic salt. I always substitute garlic or onion power when it calls for garlic or onion salt, it works great and cuts back on the sodium.

I added 1 tablespoon dried minced onion and changed the salt to 1-1/2 teaspoons and replaced the garlic salt with 1 teaspoon granulated garlic. Awesome taste.

My two boys, 7 and 3, loved this. My 3-year-old even dipped his sandwich in the au jus! I think it would also be good with some onions or some such veggies in it.

Excellant recipe! My husband and I both loved it. Cut salt and garlic salt in 1/2 and used a bit less oregano since my roast was only 2 1/2 lbs. But, definitely make this again!

My whole family enjoyed this. However, I deleted the rosemary since we don't like it and I also cut down on the garlic salt and seasoned due to other reviewers saying it was too salty. It turned out just right for us.

Nice change from typical bbq recipes. It was very salty so I will adjust that next time.

My husband and I really liked this recipe. Will definitely make this again. I ate it with the au Jus, and my husband added bbq sauce to make bbq sandwiches. So good.

I have made this several times only I used a deer roast and you can not tell it is not a beef roast. Delicious. Also used a pork roast and it turned out excellent too.

We made this for the first time a few weeks ago and just bought the ingredients for another round. It is melt-in-your-mouth good! I substituted 2 cups low-sodium beef broth for the beef granules and water.

I tried this recipe for the first time about 4 months ago and have made it bi-weekly ever since. My entire family loves it. The meat is, as everyone else stated, incredibly tender and the au jus is great. I didn't have rosemary on hand the first time I made it and we loved it so much that I'm actually afraid to try it with the rosemary. I'll have to be adventurous one of these times and give it a try.
