When I was growing up, Mom made this tasty casserole often in summer for our family and guests. It's a great use of garden vegetables, and the sausage adds comforting flavor. I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as we do. Sally Holbrook, Pasadena, California

We enjoyed this for dinner last night. I used five Italian sausage links and added a few cloves of fresh garlic and some chopped onion. Plenty of veggies in it for us - none of them came out of my garden, but they came outta somebody's garden LOL...

I added more vegetables and about 5 extra herbs. Even so, my family sprinkled Tabasco sauce all over it and said it was not a keeper.

I thought this recipe was really great and easy, nice change from using ground beef. I added a little more green pepper since I had extra in my garden.

I am new at this - but after reading some of the reviews on this recipe and several others - I would never submit a recipe because I can't believe what Caty and unkind comments are made - everyone likes to read a recipe, then adjust it to their families liking - but Geese Louise - lets not tear each other apart doing it.

I almost always change up recipes depending on what I have on hand... I used carrots, corn, canned tomatoes, spinach, peppers, & onions as my veggies. I used minute rice & I didn't bother with the bread crumb topping. Still an excellent result.

Pretty simple (but filling meal) for a 'Pot Luck' style dinner. Personally I use 'Sweet' Italian Sausage rather than pork lins.

This is a great recipe and can be modified to suit your individual taste. I made this yesterday with sliced smoked sausage & bits of beef steak; 1 green pepper; browned rice; carrots; onions; mushrooms; Worcestershire sauce; seasoned salt; pepper; chopped garlic; and melted butter. FANTASTIC!

I must be missing something. I've read the recipe and the reviews several times. No clue what maxi is talking about, midwifecat is right, not all that many veggies in this-during garden season I need to use a LOT of vegetables :) -1/2 medium green pepper,1/2 medium sweet red pepper,4 to 5 medium tomatoes1 10 ounces frozen corn,2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley1 teaspoon dried basil - I look on this as a drop in the bucket veggie wise.I went with fresh basil, added 2 onions, another tomato and 2 cups of fresh okra. I used 1/2 lb.ground sausage, which I crumbled and pre-cooked, then drained wellto cut the fat and calories.
