It’s hard to beat the classic Italian flavors of this hearty, comforting dish. It has a slight kick, so omit the pepper flakes if you don’t want the heat. —Tammy Rowe, Bellevue, Ohio

I just happened to have everything for this tonight. It was very good! I out less pepper, used roll/tube of Italian sausage, since i cut recipe in half i did put little more sauce.... to avoid too much waste. only had little piece of green pepper left. I also could not find my basil, so instead of basil and oregano, i put Italian seasoning, but it turned out fine. I did not use the oil, but did put little butter in penn water... :-)

My kids loved this one and asked if I would make it again after only taking a few bites.

I looked and looked for a recipe to use some Italian sausage I had on hand.......it came down to two, and I ultimately chose this one because I didn't have the ziti the other recipe called for. I'm so glad I made this one.....it was delicious! I thought the ingredients sounded too "simple" for it to be very impressive, but I was wrong! The rest of the family loved it as well. Great recipe....definitely one I'll use over and over again!

Would absolutely make again! Made it with turkey sausage and Ronzoni Smart Taste penne to cut some of the fat. Delicious!

Wow! This simple recipe was so good! My family loved it and it couldn't have been easier to make. This recipe would have been great "as is", but I I did make some changes to suit my our tastes:We do not like green pepper, so I used a red pepper instead.I used 1 tsp chopped garlic instead of the garlic powder.I also added 1 tsp dried parsley and 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning.I used 1 Tbsp olive oil instead of the canola oil.

This is a very good dish. I got 4 meals for the two of us and as time went on the taste got even better. I did use the small penne pasta and added a teaspoon of Better than Bouillon.

This was a very quick and easy meal to make and full of wonderful flavor. I used both sweet and hot Italian Chicken sausage and it tasted great! I have already printed and laminated this recipe and put it in my recipe box!
