Sage Tea Bread Recipe

Rating 4

I grow my own sage just so I can bake this tasty bread. The incentive of a cup of tea served with a slice of this bread make my efforts worthwhile.—Roberta Van Anda, Rumson, New Jersey

I had some fresh sage that I was trying to use up. When I ran across this recipe, I thought it would be a good use for it. Overall this is a good tea bread. It didn't have the flavor I was expecting though. I guess i was thinking it wouldn't have such a sweet taste to it (yes, i do realize that sugar will typically make things sweet). This was very easy to make and I would probably make it again sometime. I think I prefer the lemon thyme tea bread recipe i have better.

It's sort of both.  It's slightly sweet and a mild sage flavor. I put butter on mine, but a sweetened butter (like honey butter) would be good as well.

This sounds interesting and I'm growing sage in my garden for the first time.  I may try this.  Do you know if it's a sweet or savory bread?

Thanks,

Linda

I've made this bread and it's very light and delicate. It's perfect snack with a cup of tea.
