This dish was good but needed something to give it a litle zip. Next time I'll try the above suggestions with red pepper flakes and pepper.

Delicious! The depth and flavor of the sauce was amazing. It was a hit with my husband and 5 year old son. I added crushed red pepper flakes, fresh ground pepper and some sugar to the sauce. I tossed the penne with some butter, fresh minced parsley and Parmesan cheese before mixing in the sauce. I also let the sauce simmer for about a half hour while I got the garlic bread made. This is a wonderful and tasty recipe!
