Rich French Onion Soup Recipe

Rich French Onion Soup Recipe Rich French Onion Soup Recipe photo by Taste of Home Rating 4

When entertaining guests, I bring out this savory soup while we're waiting for the main course. It's simple to make—just saute the onions early in the day and let the soup simmer until dinner-time. In winter, big bowls of it make a warming supper with a salad and biscuits. —Linda Adolph, Edmonton, Alberta

Simple, tasty recipe! I sautéed 2 garlic cloves in with the onions and added some dry white wine to the broth. Excellent!

This was a good first-time recipe. I thought it was good but missing something. Next time I make it I might add a bit of garlic and wine. Though I did toast bread and used smoked mozzarella cheese and the smoked flavor added a lot to it.

I'm so excited to try this recipe. I have all the ingredients and made my croutons last night - I prefer those also over the bread slice. Easier to eat. I hope this is as good as our local restaurant serves. My honey has been wanting me to make some french onion soup. Happy Cooking!!!

This is a super easy, tasty recipe for the family. We used Low Sodium broth for dietary needs. After a second time, we added 2/3 cup of apple juice to sweeten it a little and it was Wondeful. A KEEPER!!!

This was excellent. We added pepper and used croutons w/cheese instead of the French Bread. Great for double recipe and freezing.
