When entertaining guests, I bring out this savory soup while we're waiting for the main course. It's simple to makejust saute the onions early in the day and let the soup simmer until dinner-time. This recipie was listed under the vegetarian section. It is not vegetarian since it has beef broth. Very disappointed.

The broth had no flavour, we didn't finish our dish. French onion soup is one of my favourites. Not sure how this won a contest...

Was a hit in my family. I have made it twice now. I had simmered it on the stove top to save time. The soup came out perfect either way! If only my mascara had held up as good after chopping all the onions. :D
